Thanks for your thoughtful post, appreciated as always. However, I have problems with your ideas, considering the realities of the C&TS RR.
I'll work on some kind of a meaningful alternative suggestion, from the point-of-view
of someone who was deeply involved in the financial matters of the railroad. (Don't hold your breath waiting for this item.)
Now, did you know that the "new" shop at Chama has provision for a traveling crane? I tried to get one installed during the construction of the building, but there wasn't enough money available from the EDA grant.
At least we got the little drop pit, for drivers.
