I had a conversation with a couple of the guys involved in the DV #5 resto
the first weekend it ran. They had a fully scaled plan of a projected rail
line to be build around the end of the airport and toward Bishop using
parts of the long past trolley ROW in places. I remember the mention of
not being able to run down the abandoned ROW due to a lack of places to
build a turning facility ie a wye because of land ownership. I tend to
believe that situation might have been in place for many years preceeding
the abandonment of the line.
