The West Side Lumber Company ran night trains routinely six days a week right up until the end of operations in 1960. As late at 1958, trains started from both town and camp shortly after midnight and the last trains of the day tied up in town and camp very late in the evening. They almost operated 24 hours a day, except for the hour or so around midnight and of course on Sundays which was not operated.
Duties pretty much stayed the same around the clock in terms of meets, switching and train consists. Daily this usually involved 6 jobs, 20 or more trains and at least 8 meets, not to mention encounters with 7 section crews and other occasional work and inspector autos. And all over just a 57 mile railroad.
