Yesterday I went to my free job(Volunteer) at the Tri-State Warbird Museum near Batavia (Clermont County Airport). I usually work the front desk so I see most everyone that comes in. Late in the afternoon a Veteran walked in I had seen before and I thought I would share his story with you guys.
I know there are a lot of aircraft buffs here, and of course all of us appreciate our vets. Charles Gribi is now 93 years old, but always willing to talk about aircraft and his experiences. I first met him at my sister-in-laws physical therapy place after his hip replacement. He told me the story about the collision, and later I ran into him at the museum where he is an honored WW2 vet of the museum. If interested you can go to the website his daughter has made for him. In there is the incident with the mid-air collision and a neat photo of the wing tip with a P-47 fighter escort looking over the bomber for the crew. Read the web site for the rest of the hair-raising details.
