Now we are three, and growing!!! Grant, thanks for your support. If you need and want somebody to ride shotgun in the fall let me know. In the meantime I'm going to try and get copies of all the right of way maps and easments, etc., along with the bridges and structures present, removed, sold or destroyed, from the CRRM and other sources here in the Denver area. My plan is to put together a large scaled, detailed map to keep track of progress and problem areas alike.
The Friends of the C&T have their hands full with running the present 64 miles of mainline and I DO NOT want the efforts The Friends Of The San Juan Extension to dilute or impede their efforts in any way. My initial, and short term main goal is to legally secure the entire right of way so that the mainline between Chama and Durango can be reconstructed when time, money and manpower becomes available. I'm sure it will be done in segments(probably between towns such as Chama to Lumberton, Lumbertom to Dulce , Dulce to Monero, etc., etc !! because the cost factor would be too great to do it in one fell swoop.
Any inputs from others far wiser than me on the D&RGW Chama-Durango main line would be greatly appreciated. If we all pull together we can and will rebuild this "100+ mile long dream" Think beyond "Hedrick's Rock" and Juke's Rock; the rails can and will go around those old obstacles one day.
Regards, Bill Malin (to whom "no or we can't is not a viable option")
