Coke, I do not know of any roundhouse guys or carmen who are still around. Of the operating guys not many are still employed. James and Larry Shawcroft just retired (Jan 1)after well over 40 years service in Alamosa. Myself, Paul Connor, and Ed Lee are at Grand Junction. Terry Coombs and Eddie Shawcroft are at Alamosa. Robin Yates and Ronnie Shawcroft are at Pueblo. As you can tell from this post we were moved all over the place. In my younger years starting at Alamosa, I and my family moved to Durango to Grand Junction back to Alamosa, back to Durango and finally settled in Grand Junction. Trying to hold a job on the DRGW narrow was tough but I hung on, no matter what, until the end of the Silverton Branch. I would not have missed it for the world! And it is not over yet. Very strong rumors have it that the UP has sold the entire Alamosa Branch. Some of the section guys have been told to clear everything out. If true the guys over there may be looking for a new place to camp.
