I think the freight equipment was on its way to Big Horn for George Bartholomew's Big Horn Tent City. One of the many "bright ideas" that George had during his tenure. Another thing he would do is to run out of the depot to stop the train just after we had a "highball" from the conductor. Why? someone had just drove into the parking lot and wanted to ride. So instead of getting them on at Cumbres he'd hold up 400 people's adventure and thoroughly mess up the fireman's fires with his antics. I digress, but it is sometimes amazing to see some people's thought processes (or lack thereof). The only thing more inscrutable that Bartholomew's thoughts is the reasoning powers of some of the school administrators I've worked for over the years...
