"I'm guessing you're looking at more like $400 each for fifty participants - probably even more."
Fifty people floundering around in snow? I think not. I was just on a charter where we had close to 50 the first day and more like 35 the second. I have to say, 50 was too many, and that was on a sunny fall day. I heard several people say, when comparing the two days, "I'd pay $200 more to have a smaller group."
In your scenario, $200 more would be about what it would cost for a group size of 35. Will people pay $600? I would, but only with a charter operator that I trust to do it right. I know a few that could and several more that wouldn't.
But if you do it right, it's one day from Antonito to Chama and a second day from Chama back to Antonio. Now we are talking $1,200 for two days. I'd still do it, but could you find 34 more? I can name around a dozen that would, but that still leaves you about 20 short. And you still have to figure out where to put 35 people, camera bags and tripods, not to mention step ladders! And everyone will be twice as wide, wearing winter parkas!
