How tough is it keeping the RR open from Antonito to Osier, vs keeping it open the rest of the way to Cumbres - or Chama? I'm thinking that some high-rollers - or at least mediocre-rollers as opposed to slim-budget Curmudgeons like
us me - might be willing to pay enough for the wild-west aura and the isolation you mention above to more than cover the cost of keeping the RR open.
Too bad the turning loop at Osier is oriented to better serve trains arriving from the west rather than those arriving from the east
