there was a thread on this in the past, i did a bit of thought & reaserch and - yes we can in fact make a hirail 4x4 pickup truck.
simple really
the front wheels are a normal hirail set but narrow with the hooks on the suspension that pick the truck tires up, the rear wheels also have a set of hooks to pick the rear tires up - then you get a 1 ton axle and shorten it [WITH BRAKES!!] and put rail wheels on it and mount it on a two ton hyrail mech on the rear. install a pto on the TRANSFER CASE and run a drive shaft to a carrier bearing attached to the regular rear axle and then a shaft to the rail driven axle.
the transfer case mounted pto's will power the pto with the transfer case in neutral - the regular transmission forward and reverse work, the truck tires will roll free but the drive goes out the pto, - the pto's set up this way are normally used for large winches.
the suspension of the hyrail wheels need to be near ridgid.. the frame of a pickup will flex enough to stay on the track.
