The only items from this list that I recall being in use in the early 1980's were the turret lathe, the planer, milling machine, horizontal boring machine, there was one lathe (perhaps the 17X10 La Blond) that was really beat up and was supplemented by a nicer La Blond. I recall seeing the drill press out in the weather and the longer lathe was stashed in the boiler room unused. I don't recall seeing the press, but it and some other stuff was stashed in Ft. Knox in Antonito. When the C&TS started there was one lathe in the shop - perhaps the 17X10 La Blonde. There was no floor, just dirt. There was a big hole in the dirt where the operator of the lathe stood. The hole was covered by a pallet. The roof leaked badly over the electrical service box. It was a disaster at best. Some of the shop equipment from Alamosa was so worn out it was useless. The D&RGW kept the best stuff for themselves and sent it to Durango, The C&TS got the leftovers.
