Yes JB “detached cylinder and reservoir is what the system is called. But some pages back it was referred to as the spilt brake cylinder and that is what has got us off track.
Your description of the system is very good and I thank you.

This dose not shows the layout of brake rods and levers. Here are some drawings of the two layouts. These come from Bob Sloan’s A CENTURY + TEN OF D&RGW NARROW GAUGE FREIGHT CARS 1871 TO 1981.

One shows the detached cylinder and rod and lever layout used on the older narrow gauge cars. The other shows the one pace cylinder and rod and lever layout used on the newer narrow gauge cars.

So the question is what rod and brake system was used on the small group of 3000 box cars
