Ron,
I was told the wheel press Mike mentioned was located in the Quincy Mining Companies machine shop. It was acquired by Genesee County Parks, the operator of the Huckleberry RR in sale separate from the lease of the #3. Dennis Daugherty moved it to Flint on the Parks 5 ton stake truck (a GM product of course).
The press too had seen some hard use. The upper and lower frame bars were bent so bad that the movable tail stock was difficult to move. The stationary tail stock was broken, repaired, and broken again. At the HRR the bars were straightened, a new tail stock fabricated, the pump rebuilt, a new leather cup for the ram was installed and a surplus electric motor added to make it usable. Hydraulic oil was substituted for water as the working fluid. We have loaded it over 100 tons removing wheels.
