The K-36s and K-37s are both superheated. You can not tell if an engine is superheated or not just by looking at the outside with a couple of exceptions. 1. if it has a front end throttle it is most likely superheated. 2. some locomotives had a badge plate like a rectangular builders plate that was an identifying mark. If I can scan a page from an old ICS booklet I will post it and it shows the arrangement of the dry pipe, superheater header, superheater units, and the delivery pipes (wishbones) in the boiler and smokebox.
