Sometimes I think its cheesy having those shots of us kids in there.
Then I realize these are just home movies, and thats the way it was!!!
Without these I surely wouldn't have remember climbing into the cab of our engine (490) in 1956. In another film(New York Central), I am sitting in the engineers seat as a switcher backs up, and it looks like I am running the engine(I was about 3 or 4 in that scene).
I have a neat shot of my dad running a B&O pacific in Ohio that was shot by the engineer. He is wearing one of those furry hats(I call them Russian Hats) which looks kinda weird. They are rolling along nicely and he acts as though he was a regular crewmember as he waves to another B&O steam passenger train thats in the siding. In one of his shows I used that clip at the end to show my dad. He was a really cool guy who loved steam and took us a lot of places "Normal Kids" never got to go(for steam of course).
Thanks for the comment.
