Ten Wheeler, get ready for 2 hours of stack talk and unusal stuff. Ships First Class on Tuesday.
Mr West you are right about the old days. I remember there used to be a pre-season price, regular season was higher, Fall colors higher yet, then perhaps a lower price if time after the season.
I do recall all these trips as being quite exhausting(physically). Craft was trying to do me before my time I think! I couldn't figure out why we had to walk from the highway crossing all the way up the tracks to the spot on the hill at Coxo, when we had a perfectly good train to use. Well, the logical answer was they didn't want to back up the train. I also remember the stunning lighting at that spot and how Victor Hand sat there and was watching the clouds and we got the light just right. It was a scene nobody ever got before since it was so late in the day. The end of that was the Windy Point Glint shot I put in the preview. The first part was equally impressive, then through the leafless aspens after the Coxo Curve, etc. Another fun thing was riding in the gondola next to 497's smokebox as it was rear pusher. We did two runbys up the hill beyond Laboto, so for the second one I went back into the caboose and shot from the cupola for something different. Also did that on the last day rounding the curve at Los Pinos. Boy was I beat after climbing the hill from the lower level at Tanglefoot upgrade!!! A belated thanks to Sam Rabual(Sp?) who carried my 20 pound tripod to the spot at Coxo. Seems like it was yesterday in some respects.
