In your last photo, I stood next to that yard limit sign in 1997. That was when we did the "Chased By A Steam Train". I was hoping to get several extra runbys during the day, but as usual the time got frittered away. The only one we got was on the afternoon freight. John West and Les were dropped off around the bend a ways, and stood there alone. The thing I most wanted to get was the freight charging through the big drift that had been chewed up by the Rotary a few days earlier. That clip of video has never been used anywhere. In looking at the Craft charter footage again, I discovered I have several "Extra" clips that were dual runbys at a few locations where I only used one of the two shots in the program. The program was the longest I had done, being 2 hours, and there was no way to go any more than that. I guess its a good thing when you have too much good stuff. That doesn't happen often either!!!
I don't think there is much hope of topping these trips from 1992. I know John West and I tried to do some trips, but getting all the elements to work on the C&TS takes either a lot of luck or magic, I am not sure which frankly!!!
At least we did these trips in the 90's when charter costs were a bit more reasonable. Thats why Les and I did the charters in 1997. It was sorta our one big fling. 2 guys rent a train for two days, and then a third guy, John West comes in for a second day and pays for a helper!!
Today I bet the prices are 3-4 times what we paid for pre-season trains!! In retrospect its good we did things when we did.
Nice photos Russ!
