I remember the evening that Chris and company from NSRM helped remove the oil tank from the tender. In the fuel space on the side of the tender the BLW class number was found.
That day helped lay the track out the gate to the curb. This allowed the Eureka to run out on its own power to the curb and the NSRM truck to back in to wrench the oil tank out. Eureka then coupled up and we had a short fan trip riding in the empty fuel space back into iron horse stable.
I remember talking with a police man who came by to check out the smoke. Also there was a young man who was into race cars and had been a Navy engine room man. He pointed at the cylinder and asked if that is where the turbine was located -- no, I told him, that is where the double acting piston is located.
