The Eureka's cab had to rebuilt (or reproduced) due to the fire damage the cab suffered at "Old Las Vegas" before Dan bought it. The first time I saw the locomotive Dan was doing the woodwork for the cab using new wood (walnut or ash -- I can't remember which) he bought from the east.
The cab and decoration on the locomotive and tender were done using drawings, etc. used the restoration of the "Sonoma" at California State RR Museum. In fact, the documentation for the tender decoration of the Sonoma was obtained by investigating the Eureka's tender when it was still owned by Warner Brothers.
All the brass on the Eureka is original, except for the cylinder wrapping. This was just too dented, etc. for Dan to consider straightening.
Now the wood cab on the "Emma Nevada" is apparently original to that locomotive. I have been told that the Baldwin class number has been found stamped on it.
