As stated before there is a grim human side to this wreck. Two railroaders died as a result of the derailment. What became of their remains? 34 year old John Fitzgerald was apparently unmarried so his body was shiped back to his sister Etta O'Reily in Ottawa, Canada and he is buried in the Beechwood Cemetary. Thanks to NGRDF member George Pearce for the photograph:
38 year old Willard Oliver was buried in Winnmucca, NV next to his wife Alice Emma who had died in 1908 at age 22 and his daughter Isabel Rich who had died in 1905 at age 1 year 11 months (life was tough back then). Their graves are located in the IOOF section of the cemetary and sadly are the only graves in that row. Willard was survived by his 10 year old son Ralph Oliver(he turn 10 the day of his father's burial).
It would be interesting to know if there are any living relatives or descendants of either men.
So now you know the rest of the story...
