After a pause looking over the edge and listening to the wind whistling through I look for a vantage point to get a side view. The resulting shot provides us with a good view of that concrete pier that we saw in the 1923 photo. It looks like we have found the bridge.
Now the hard part, how do we get down to the bottom of the canyon to attempt a now shot. We head back the way that we came and find a spot that might work with less of a slope. It is still a hard scramble down the loose rock embankment (I would recommend going back to the road and hiking it or driving it down to river level). Along the way down we find this relic.
Once we hit the bottom and scramble through all the brush, where the cattle likes to hang out, we take out a copy of the 1923 shot. I then searched around for a location that would get pretty close to the original. Not exact in retrospect but pretty good.
