I think this is great news! For reasons that have been discussed here before, the liklihood of 483 getting restored to operating condition anytime soon are very slim. However, this is a great compromise in that it at least cosmetically pulls the old girl back to her former glory and it puts her out front as part of an interpretive display that will draw a LOT of interest from everyone who visits the railroad. Plus it has the added benefit of showing a tangible return for those who have donated over time to the save the 483 fund and presents the possibility of a major donor being inspired by the sight and funding further restoration. Win, win in my opinion and Roger and Soni should be commended for being out front on this.
