Ryan,
I had to laugh when you mentioned the #9 did not look like the railfans model. Back in 2001 the CRRM had Goose #2 running out of Silverton to Elk Park and back. It's 7:30 in the morning, we're trying to get #2 ready for it's first run to Elk park. It's below freezing in late August,
I'm trying to start #2, with it's 6 volt system it's balky. A guy pushes past me, a railfan with a vest with every railroad patch known to man on it, sticks his head in #2's door and declares that the interior of #2 is incorrect. Resisting the urge to do bodily harm to this guy, I politely asked "why do you say that?", then explained that #2's interior has the original Buick seats and Pierce Arrow door panels and headliner. (reproduction material). The guy replies. foaming at the mouth, that #2's interior is not like his model, and we have committed a felony by restoring it incorrectly. Without commenting on his ancestry and explaining he needs to get a life, I replied why don't you buy a ticket and ride #2, then you can enlighten us to all the other mistakes you find. Man walked off muttering to himself.
It takes all kinds,
HighCommander
