Check this picture out. It shows the 492 with a pyle light mounted on the rear of the tender deck. It was like what the 497 had around this time period. I think, but can't prove it yet that the pyle lights that were in this configuration on the 492, 496, and 497 were later moved to the 490, 493, and 495. I can't substantiate this claim yet but hopefully I'll get some info on that which may clear things up. Also if your in the late 30's early 40's time frame a tender without a tender light is also prototypical, but not as cool when you back up! I don't think there was any bracket off the back of the tender like the 340 had. I have an almost side shot of the 496 near Garfield on the lower muleshoe and you can't see any support bracket for it's plye tender light. I pull the photo again and verify.
