I caught the narrow gauge bug by riding behind a Porter 2-6-0 at a park in Panama City, FL. Every summer my family vacationed in "PC" and my dad always took me for a ride on that little narrow gauge park train. As a teenager, I managed to get cab rides in the early afternoons before the crowds came. It was something to spend 3 to 4 hours riding the cab of the former Argent Lumber #1. I did get to drive the locomotive from the back station once, that was something else! I only wish I had had a video camera at that time. Now I live about an hour away from where all three Porters of that park line are "stored". Lots of memories come back each time I pass them!
