Les,
are you from California? There is a Monte Vista High School not far from here...
Mine was the Logging equipment of the ex West Side Lumber Co. I had been to Roaring Camp in Felton a few times, but it was when I went to the West Side's Mill site to ride the newly restored Shay number 7. I knew the Shays were special somehow but didn't really know why. After that I put all my HO standard gauge in a box. I was only 10 at the time. It did not take long to discover the vast narrow gauge of Colorado
