This would certainly draw a big crowd. Last time people flew from around the world to see the show. The best approach would be to plan at least 6 months in advance, and get the equipment (locos ready to runin winter, water cars, crews, etc) lined up and prepared. The Rotary hasn't been run in a while and would need some work to be ready.
All this costs lots of $$$, so it could only work if someone would front the money and then sell tickets. How to control the free loaders? Not likely an easy task. For one past run the Friends charted a following train and sold tickets with the excess to go to part payment. With today's cost of labor and material, and based on the Chama Steam fees, a $300-$400 per person donation by several hundred people would be needed to pull this off. Anyone want to take this on? Not likely, but we can always hope for next year.
BTW. The first time the Rotary was planned to run they had nearly record LOW levels of snow... The saying goes, only fools and newcomers try to predict weather in Colorado/NM...
