The concrete foundations were designed to hold flood light poles, and are part of an electrical modernization that is almost completed inside the shop. That outside area is used at night to service locomotives. Right now the flood lights are the subject of some review, since their modern design would significantly impact the historic ambience of the area.
The Osier tank suffers from a combination of hunters' gun shot wounds, new redwood staves that still need to swell, and a need to tighten some of the hoops. The contractor who rebuilt the tank last year should be working on that now.
