I took my four-year-old girls to see Thomas in Hood River. After exclaiming "that's Thomas!" and "Hi, Thomas!" my one daughter asked if we were going to ride it like we did the "cabin train."
The "cabin train" is the Sumpter Valley Railway, which we rode last summer after spending the night in a nearby cabin. The associations are rather free, I know.
Anyway, the scuttlebutt amongst some of the regional railfans here is that the Mount Hood Railroad staff and volunteers refers to him as "Thomas the Bank Engine," owing to the revenues. At $16 each, I would hope that they are making some money on that one.
