That's why all of us in the railfan community need to obtain life memberships to SVRY and then sign up all our friends, relatives, deceased ancestors, anyone... maybe then the whole line could be rebuilt out to Prairie City and down to Baker City, and then we could twist Amtrak's and the Oregon State Legislature's arms a little and get the Pioneer service back and then one could fly into Portland International, take the MAX train to Union Station, take the Pioneer to Baker City, and take SVRY to McEwen.
I guess that's still remote. It's hard to not have remote places in a state that is a little larger than the entire U.K. but with less of a population than London.
I am still chipping away at my life membership, $35/yr at a time, and hoping I can go up there and foam some more before the winter shut-down.
