Ok, so I want to know how it is that the Friends, a volunteer organiztion, is dictating to the Commission what should be built and where it should go. How is it the tail is wagging this dog?
First, I would expect the commission to get in gear and get a master plan done by professionals outside of the group of 'interested parties'. Someone with credentials of other railroad related plans that are in place and working. That 1994 'plan' needs another look for sure.
Second, any structure should go through a process of public review before it even gets to the stage of structure design and siting.
Third, then and only then should an outside, private organization be involved in helping one of these projects come to fruition.
I still do not understand how the Friends think it is just fine to put up a metal shed on an historic site and think they are helping preserve anything. They should stick to fixing rotting cars instead of trying to run the show.
