You might want to take a look at the Chama station sometime. Two buildings are actually there ... the traditional station on the north and a substantial addition on the south built sometime after CATS took over. The addition was skillfully built to blend in with the traditional station, so an uninformed person might never realize that it is reasonably new. That is both good and bad.
The new structure has exactly that same look, so in the future people might be confused about its provenance, and since it is somewhat bigger, over time it might come to overshadow the traditional station in people's minds.
I believe this issue is what CJ was getting at (in addition to the questions about how there is concern that this building will dominate the view to the north).
I had assumed that the new structure would be built as an adobe building painted in a dark earth color. That would clearly distinguish it from the historic structures but it would still look like it belonged in the area (and the texture and color would make it blend in better and be less obtrusive).
