Thanks for the useful info, Dick. That being said, however, your posting did not address my concerns, in particular planting a privately owned structure on public land. I can only assume that this has been addressed. I can't imagine otherwise. But I would like something more than just "feel good" statements.
I finally got to look at the drawings of the proposed structure. I was impressed. However, I still maintain my objections as to the proposed location, and will continue to oppose the idea on that basis. Furthermore, as another poster opined, it looks a lot like the station. He is right, and that is a drawback in my mind. I'm sure that visitors will get confused and think that the visitors center is part of the original complex. I can understand that this design may have been deliberately made so that it would be "compatible" with existing structures. However, in this case I would much rather see something that sets it apart so that there is no question that the visitors's center is not part of the original fabric of the RR.
In closing, I hope that you all will forgive me for being a PITA.
