It's not often that one gets an opportunity to offer a friendly amendment to a Dick Cowles' recitation of facts, so I can't help myself from jumping in.
In fact, the RGRPC bylaws required that the Friends President be seated on the RGRPC board as an ex-officio [Latin for "by nature of the office"] VOTING director. Somewhere in the dusty archives of narrow gauge heaven [or perhaps perdition] are two years of minutes that recorded how I cast my votes.
The bylaws were drafted this way for good reason, since the RGRPC was incorporated as a controlled organization of the Friends. I never saw a reason to downplay that fact, since transparancy was an oft-stated value of the organization.
