If they just slapped it together and knew it wasn't up to snuff why would they allow it to leave their shops. If that many corners were cut and the engine had a major accident or incident wouldn't the CHS have gone after them? I wouldn't do a half a** job and put my name on it even if that is what I was told to do knowing that there could be serious ramifications from my work. I think Ulrich should go up to Silver Plume and fix what he by-passed and get it right and of course the CHS should pony up and pay to make sure it gets done right. I'd have rather seen the #9 come out this year and in top notch shape versus last year and only being able to run for a season. If that is truely what happened then there is a lot of integrity issues going here--none good. If I had a loco for restoration work I don't think I'd take it Ulrich. Also the CHS should be held accountable for knowingly putting the operator and the tourists in jeapardy and setting them up for potential injury--thank god nothing serious happened.
