Re: Salida

The building across the tracks in the second photo could be the one the train is backing towards, but it is obscured by the train itself.
I have been to Salida, and have film of it with the new station on the right you showed(old Hotel). Its not in the picture.
Its a real pain to show this stuff, and I have a lot of tiny reels to deal with, but once I get it transfered to video sometime in the future, I will try to grab a frame and make a jpeg and see if we can get it on the board somehow.
Today I find a 3-4 minute segment riding the California Zephyr from the last dome car. Ironically, I am just finishing my program on this area!!! Oh well, maybe next time!!

PS The baggage car behind the 479 looked bigger than the car behind it, just like the photo you posted. The scene is too quick to really study it well. Once on video I can stop and start, etc,
but it will likely be several months before we get that far along.
