The 479 spent a lot of its years pulling the Shavano from Salida to Gunnison, as noted earlier. Gunnison had a single story brick depot (still standing the last I knew). Salida had a stone depot until it was supplanted in about 1940 with an art deco depot that lasted into the 1980's.
I do recall a photo of the 479 in Durango (in one of Dorman's books, I think) taken sometime in the 1930's, so she was not in Salida exclusively.
474 was the only K-28 that stayed on the Gunnison line exclusively, from what I can tell. I was told that she was never equipped with a steam line on the tender to provide heat for passenger coaches, so it was probably not used for passenger service. I believe it was assigned as the Crested Butte Branch locomotive for years. Not a lot of photos of it exist, so far as I have ever been able to find. I believe 474 shared Crested Butte duty with the 360, and I vaguely remember seeing one photo of the two of them doubleheaded on the Branch, but I don't remember where.
