Rick ... Perhaps not my funniest memory, but the last one I now have.
I became acquainted with Bob in 1952-53 when He had the "Narrow Gauge Motel" in Alamosa.
Being a narrow gauge fan and modeler, I attended the Annual Narrow Gauge Modelers Convention at Durango in August 2006.
Bob and I sat next to each other in the front row during a talk given by Amos Cordova (retired D&RGW-D&SNG agent).
After the talk ended, He and I were comparing n.g. history. A few other fellows who had purchased a copy of two of his books, came up and asked if Bob would be kind enought to write an autograph inside the front cover, etc.
This He did with a smile! Then one fellow came up and asked if He would be around the next day, as He has 5-6 books (but did not have them with him) desiring each to be autographed.
Bob said sure, then said .... "Why don't I just write my name 6-8 times on a sheet of paper, then you can cut them out and paste one in each book." The fellow accepted the offer and went away with an autographed sheet of paper.
