Unfortunately not. The materials we have go back into '35 and run to '61. I have been able to discover the #'s, dates and subject of a lot of earlier ones as the AFE's that refer to modifications or retirements often list the # and date of original construction, or installation in service. I have a couple other sources for earlier information. In the case of tank car 99 the original AFE is #206 and it was constructed June 1923.
Presumably the earlier AFE's do exist at the Nat. Archives as Mr. John Lewis researched the SVRy AFE's and or Car Accounts to develope a roster of equipment 1916 to the end of operation. There may be a possibility that the person who discovered the AFE material we have may come up with more as he has been working through many boxes of uncatologed materials.
Perhaps someone out there that has looked at AFE material from other rr's can help with a question I have. SVRy's valuation agent typed on one of the "Roadway Completion Forms" in 1936 I think it was something like this: "This is a retype of the 1936 material on the new larger forms". I don't have this in front of me, so this may be partly a paraphrase. What do the earlier forms look like and what is their size? Do they also have the title "Roadway Completion Report" or for equipment "Completion Report"?
