I’m sure you are correct about the Friends financing their shop building and land purchases. I beg the differ about the friends not receiving commission money for projects
I recall a time of being at the back end of the line waiting for my turn for funding to install some already purchased equipment and for the large vertical boring mill to be acquired and shipped to Chama.
As I have already stated if the shop problems are addressed at all they will be with yet a 5th shop building connected to the property and the current shop will become the Tombstone Roundhouse interpretive center with pictures explaining to a confused public why the a “roundhouse” is more a slice of pie with lots of barren ground around it and that what they are looking at there is a much more clear representation of the D&RGW narrow gage than an actual round house & shop facility.
I’m going to drop this topic now because it is evident that if there is any body else that thinks that 5 separate shop buildings connected to the property and abandoning the current shop as a 10 year plan is any thing but blatant patronization of the shops problems, they will be little or know help.
I’m right where I was in 1997 on this topic. The shop will be back at about 1991 if they get the 4th engine on line this year. And the folks that take pictures win again and will be able to take pictures of the same equipment in the same place and if the parking lot is empty they will be able to pass them of as old. Pleasing the photographers takes top priority over all else. It kinda reminds me of that movie Ground Hog Day. Here is the shop in 1930

The biggest advantage for me this time is I’m making better than twice the money, have a healthy 401k. I don’t need to move and the locals haven’t ravaged my home & personal belongings this time.
