Duane brings up a great point.
My modeling has instilled an interest of these Narrow Gauge trains in both of my children. Hopefully they it will grow with them as they grow.
The modeling was brought into focus by a trip to Colorado last summer and a trip to WestSide Lumber Mill site a few months ago. My five year old son and I walked along the abandoned WestSide ROW and talked about the history of the Railroad and of Tuolumne County and he loved every minute. He made the connection of, this is where the "Log Trains" used to go.
Now at home we watch the Video more and when we "Load Up" the skeleton cars with "O" Scale Logs, he has that connection to deepen his interest in these long gone trains.
Plus I have volunteered myself at C&TS. I helped re-roof the stock cars, but I don't use that to measure my manhood.
