I believe some of the 70 or maybe it's 75lb rail in our present yard came out of South Baker, so the 101 at least would be on rails that it actually ran on.
The SVRy leased 70 and 75 rail from UP and relaid the whole main as well as many of the yard tracks in the early 1940's. They in turn replaced a lot of 56lb iron rail that was on some of the less used sidings and spurs with some of the 45lb steel rail they pulled off the main. I ran into this in the AFE materials recently along with further information that SVRy assembled a rock crusher from used parts to crush ballast to relay the new track. They also built a tie treatment plant at about the same time to treat all of the replacement ties for this multiyear project. After the rail replacement project was complete the tie plant appeared to have been retired. This whole program of replacement is what sends many of us into utter astonishment that the rr was abandoned in 1947, with a physical plant in excellent condition.
