Is it true that the running gear etc of a K37 is the same as a K36? When I was in Antonito last year I asked one of the workers in the shop there what were the chances of seeing one of the 490's ever running again. He replied that the chances were pretty slim because a) they are capable of pulling only one more car up to Cumbres than a 480 can, so it isn't really all that advantageous; b) so many of the parts on a 490 are different to the corresponding parts of a 480 that it would entail having to keep two parts supplies going to keep all the engines going. I took that as meaning running gear, but it could mean flues etc. So, just how much alike (or different) is a 480 and a 490?
