It's Nevada's locomotive.

I know that some would like to see the locomotive go to Colorado, but the fact of the matter is that it is staying right here. It now has about a 75 year history of being here, was one of the last locomotives to run on the Eureka Nevada Railroad (formerly E & P). It is part of one of legendary stories about Doby Doc and the great train heist. It is as much a part of Nevada's history and perhaps has more history here than any where else.
That it has not yet been restored is no reason for it to leave. The Nevada State Railroad Museum which owns it has one of the best reputations on the planet for restoring 19th century locomotives to operation, and if that is not feasable then to immaculate static display. There are plans to get it restored, and it will be restored. Just be patient. Then maybe someday it can visit Colorado....of course lettered for the EN.
We here in Nevada have made great efforts to share our railroad history with others in California, Washington, Canada, New Mexico and Colorado, but I have yet to see any Colorado engine, standard or narrow gauge, ever come here for any reason. That is not a complaint, but just a recognition of a fact that we are glad to share our equipment, but are not fond of it when there is talk about taking our history away permanently.
