John,
I thought X497 was doing a Farmington turn and had rights over the eastbound 498-486 from Carbon Jct to Durango when returning. But that was my best guess at this statement and it was based on the assumption that Extra 497 West was the subject of the last overly long sentence. That leaves the phrase "Wait until 6:10PM" to apply to Extra 497. Best I can make of that is that if 498-486 hasn't passed Carbon Jct by that time, 497 is superior and 498-486 must wait at Durango until 497 returns.
