Pressed the key too early!
The D&RG sent four engines from Gunnison to replace engines that had been condemned in 1916. The RGS accepted 402, 409 & 420 and rejected 405 (I believe - would have to find those notes). 420 was not forced upon them.
Main complaint I've seen regarding the Rio Grande renting/leasing was that they usually gave the RGS engines with "considerable mileage" which Ridgway would usually have to repair if they had to keep them running because of power shortages.
