These money hungry grubber's should be thoroughly investigated. The comission bought what was offered before minus a fire truck and 2 flat cars etc which should have been taken of the top money or replaced as in the former offer.
Chris, I agree completely. The good news is, Commission Executive Director Leo Schmitz did indeed thoroughly vet RGRPC's list. Leo determined three things:
1. Every item on the list was paid for by RGRPC, using RGRPC funds (not ticket revenue or state funds), and never reimbursed by the Commission.
2. The Fair Market Value of the assets, minus the fire truck and the flat cars, was $152,000. Leo came up with that number, not RGRPC.
3. The Replacement Cost of the assets, if the Commission were to purchase them today, is well in excess of either figure.
I'm willing to bet that RGRPC would welcome an investigation. I'm also willing to bet the Commission will neither authorize one, nor would they come out looking very good at the end.
