I find it very frustrating in that what appears to be the people who probably do nothing more tangable than love the railroad have the most scalding opinions and ideas about the people who go out and bust ass and try to do something positive to help out. Without a doubt if you asked any person involved with the RGRPC 1 or 2 if they would have done anything differently now having the benifit of hindsight, you would have heard a HELL YES!!!
I have had the privilige of working with many of these people who got dirty and invested hours, weeks, months of their lives not to mention LOTS of their own money to try to make a difference to keep the CATS running and they DO NOT deserve the armchair quarterbacking and accusations that sometimes get posted here and other boards. This talk about some sort of personal gain at the expense of the railroad is just SO MUCH CRAP!!
I would encourage all to get involved to do what ever you can personally to help be it the Friends or some other way. If you contact the Friends for instance, you can learn about many ways that can be helpfull without even attending a worksession.
I would like to ask all out there who have doubts about the people, and mistakes made in the past in trying to help keep the CATS running, that you might ask yourself what YOU have done to help out. If the answer is nothing more than ride the train, you might consider tempering your comments about others that have at least tried.
Getting off my soapbox now, regards John
