two towns at either end that have a submerged hostility to Anglo visitors (witness the bad service in some of the local eating establishments because you ain't a "local", don't speecha spanish, etc....)
I must say that, as an Anglo whose Spanish is pretty rudimentary, I've never experienced anything like this. Over the years I've eaten in just about every restaurant in Antonito and Chama, and count some of the Hispanic proprietors, past and present, as friends.
