Kelly ,
Tourist roads are hard for all involved . It's frustrating ,brecause there are always problems that exceed profits . As Earl Knoob and my old D&SNG Superintendent Mick Connor both pointed out to me ,it's not easy for management either . I reported this development only because I was asked to . I have known Kenny Queen for 19 years and worked with both his father and him there in Durango. The D&SNG is an excellent attraction and it has many advantages over the C&TS .Its corporate culture(a holdover from Bradshaw)is railfan friendly, however, only because they discovered there is money in it . I have tried to point out that the C&TS is an open yard ,has friendly employees and looks like it did fifty years ago .It pained me to hear fans say"they didn't have time to ride" the C&TS while they were on their way to Railfest in Durango . #463 ran every day ,but no one seemed to care . Next year it would be nice to see fans ride both railroads and show their support for the C&TS and the merchants in Chama that depend on the railroad patrons .
